By August, the Aplina Foods Batavia yogurt plant will have added nearly $2.5 million in new equipment to make the facility run more efficiently.
Among the machines that began being added earlier this year include one that can package four yogurt containers together and a quart-sized filler, which creates opportunities for other products and the ability to offer more contract services. Additionally, a case packer and tray former have been added to the end of the production line to make the packaging process faster and more efficient.
Gustavo Badino, general manager of the Batavia plant, said that the 32-oz. filler is used to make products for other companies. Currently, the plant doesn’t make or sell those kinds of products under the Alpina name.
