Albuquerque's Creamland Dairy Loses $2M APS Contract

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque Public Schools said board members approved a contract Tuesday with an Arizona-based company — officially ending its 51-year business relationship with local milk distributor Creamland Dairy.

APS said that Lively Distributing outbid local Creamland Dairy, which had been its main milk supplier since 1960.

Board members said it's the first year another company outbid Creamland Dairy.

Creamland Dairy said it lost more than a $2-million contract with APS.

"(The move) affects the farmers in New Mexico because it's New Mexico's milk. It affects New Mexico jobs because we process the milk here locally," Creamland Dairy General Manager Howard Miller said.
