Weston Foods Closing Sarsfield Pie Plant, Retail Preferences Cited

Ninety people in the Kentville area found out Monday they won't have a job this fall.

Weston Foods has decided to close its Sarsfield pie plant there, a release from the company said.

“Making a closure decision is the most difficult (decision) we make,” said Geoffrey Wilson, a senior vice-president with Weston said in an interview with The Chronicle Herald Monday afternoon.

“We deeply regret the personal impact the closure will have on our Kentville employees.”
