COMMERCE, Calif. — Unified Grocers is recalling Cottage Hearth Stone Ground Wheat Bread (24 oz) and 7 Select 100% Whole Wheat Bread (24 oz) because they may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
- Cottage Hearth breads are distributed by Unified Grocers and other distributors to select independently-owned and operated retail grocery stores in Southern California and Arizona.
- 7 Select breads are distributed by Unified Grocers to select 7-Eleven locations throughout Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
The following code date is affected by this recall: Mar. 26

- Cottage Hearth Stone Ground Wheat Bread – 24 oz (UPC# 0-41380-80625-7)
- 7 Select 100% Whole Wheat Bread – 24 oz (UPC# 52548-00181)
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a limited number of certain Cottage Hearth and 7 Select Wheat breads were distributed in packaging that omitted milk from the ingredient statement. The labeling issue has since been corrected and the affected Cottage Hearth and 7 Select products are now in full compliance with all federal, state and local labeling regulations.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
