Turano Baking Co. Moving Into The Indianapolis Market

Turano Baking Co., a major player in the bread business in the Chicago area since 1962, is expanding delivery into the Indianapolis market, the company said today. The move into Indy will expand the bread company's reach beyond the Illinois, Wisconsin and Northwest Indiana regions where the bread supplier already is well-established.

Noted Mario Turano, the bread company's head of marketing: "Over the past 50-plus years, our family has been fortunate to have supported and worked with the premier restaurateurs and chefs in the Midwest. We are excited to expand our reach to support the culinary talents of Indianapolis."

The Turano company said the decision to enter the Indianapolis market was prompted by what it labeled a "culinary revitalization" in the Indiana capital city with an influx of specialty restaurant concepts from all over the world that have been recognized recently by foodie outlets such as Bon Appetit magazine and the James Beard Foundation. Turano said the new restaurant growth in Indianapolis is being fueled by meats and produce readily sourced from nearby farms.
