The Fresh Market Recalls Nut Breads Due To Undeclared Allergen

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Fresh Market, Inc. (NASDAQ: TFM) is voluntarily recalling the following bakery items. The products listed below may contain peanut, a known allergen which is not declared correctly on the label.

  • Banana Nut Bread UPC: 20310000000
  • Banana Chocolate Chip Nut Bread UPC: 20388800000
  • Pineapple Coconut Nut Bread UPC: 21355100000
  • Banana Blueberry Nut Bread UPC: 22324800000

The affected products were available for purchase at all of The Fresh Market's 187 locations between the dates of March 1 and April 22, 2016. For a complete list of store locations, please visit www.thefreshmarket.com/all-stores/. No other products at The Fresh Market are involved in this recall.

The Fresh Market's supplier notified the company of the potential for the products to contain peanut. While the product labels indicate the products were manufactured in an environment where peanuts are present, it does not indicate that the product may contain peanut. People who are allergic to peanut may run the risk of an allergic reaction if they consume the affected products. Consumers who have purchased these products and are allergic to peanut are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to any of The Fresh Market's stores for a refund.

The company has received no reports of adverse reaction due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
