ALAMEDA, Calif. — An Alameda-based bakery has voluntarily recalled cookies from store shelves because of a labeling issue that could put consumers with allergies in harm's way, California Department of Public Health officials said Thursday.
The health department discovered during a routine inspection that Semifreddi's Inc. had omitted including allergens milk and soy on its labels.
Because of the omission, Semifreddi's voluntarily recalled all of its almond biscotti and chocolate-dipped almond biscotti with an "Enjoy By" date prior to Sept. 16, 2014, according to the health department.
