Reborn Bakery Brings Delight To Port St. Lucie

In February, City Delight Bakery became New City Delight Bakery when the store was purchased by next-door neighbor Gloria Ford. Ford, owner of Willie's Fish Market at 8009 S. U.S. Highway 1 in Port St Lucie, said she snapped up the popular bakery when she heard it was available.

In addition to breads, the bakery sells Caribbean sweets including hot-cross buns without the icing; they call them sugar buns. Among other treats, the bakery serves bread pudding, pound cake, rum cake and bulla, a coffee or tea cake that is plain or flavored with ginger. Items are available whole or by the slice at retail in the bakery. Just talking about enjoying the bakery's signature crunchy gizzarda coconut tart with a cup of Jamaican coffee sent Ford into a reverie about the treat.

All of the bakery's treats don't stay close to home. New City Delight Bakery delivers wholesale to Bravo Supermarkets and other retail stores and restaurants in Port St. Lucie, Orlando, Palm Bay and Vero Beach.
