Publix Phasing Out Azodicarbonamide From Some Bread Products

LAKELAND | Publix says it is phasing out a controversial food additive used in some of the grocer's bread products.

And Lakeland's ButterKrust Bakery has already discontinued use of azodicarbonamide in the Nature's Own products it makes, said President Doug Wimberly. ButterKrust owner, Georgia-based Flowers Foods, implemented the policy last year, he said.

A spokesman for Flowers Foods said the company is working to remove the additive from all of its products.
