WASHINGTON, DC – During the All Membership Meeting of the American Bakers Association (ABA) 2016 Convention, the ABA membership approved a new slate of officers for the ABA Board of Directors March 2016 to March 2018 term. Fred Penny, President of Bimbo Bakeries USA, was named ABA Chairman; Bradley K. Alexander, Executive Vice President and COO of Flowers Foods, serves as First Vice Chairman; Cordia Harrington, CEO of Tennessee Bun Co., serves as Second Vice Chairman; Erin Sharp, Group Vice President, Manufacturing of The Kroger Co., remains as Treasurer; and Rich Scalise, Chairman and CEO of Hearthside Food Solutions, serves as Immediate Past Chairman.
To ensure the perspectives of the industry’s up and coming leaders are included in the discussions of the ABA leadership, the NextGenBaker Committee Co-Chairs have been invited to participate as special guests at the 2016-2018 ABA Board Meetings. The current co-chairs, Jesse Amoroso, Vice President of Amoroso’s Baking Company, and Morgan Murphy, Sales of Mother Murphy’s Flavors, will be the first NextGenBaker representatives to take a seat at the table.
“We are going into this new term with an incredibly strong Board of Directors who are active leaders eager to engage in driving the strategic vision of our organization,” said Robb MacKie, ABA President and CEO. “They see the inclusion of the NextGenBakers as a meaningful step – to bring in the voices of an important segment of the industry and ABA membership.”
ABA looks forward to the leadership and guidance of the 2016-2018 Board of Directors. These leaders serve as excellent ambassadors for both the association and the baking industry. To view the complete roster of the new ABA Board of Directors, click here.
