Nature's Harvest Bread Blends Nutrition & Fun For Its First-Ever Sandwich Art Photo Contest

HORSHAM, Pa. — It's a bird, it's a plane, it's – a sandwich? According to a recent nationwide survey conducted on behalf of Nature's Harvest® bread, nearly 75 percent of moms have employed creative methods, such as styling food into fun shapes, to get their children to eat more nutritiously. To help advocate meals with more nutrients, especially whole grains, Nature's Harvest® bread has launched its first-ever "Nature's Harvest® Sandwich Art Photo" Contest.

"In our recent survey of moms with children ages four to thirteen, we learned that nearly half of moms are concerned about their children's nutrition and that 52 percent consider whole grains one of the most important nutritional considerations when purchasing food at the grocery store," says Kara Reddy, Senior Brand Manager, Nature's Harvest® bread. "Just in time for back-to-school, the 'Nature's Harvest Sandwich Art Photo' Contest will help families put some fun in school lunchboxes across the country and demonstrate that whole grain goodness can come in all different shapes and flavors."

From August 24th to September 6th, moms can visit the Nature's Harvest® Facebook page (www.facebook.com/naturesharvestbreads) to submit their sandwich art creations, using any of the Nature's Harvest® bread varieties, all of which are baked with at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving. Nature's Harvest® bread makes whole grain consumption easy for moms by providing great tasting breads their kids will love like Honey Wheat Made with Whole Grain bread and 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat bread.

Nature's Harvest® bread will be enlisting the help of celebrity chef and mom Kelsey Nixon to judge sandwich creations based on visual appeal, creativity and the incorporation of nutritious ingredients. The top 10 sandwich art semi-finalists will be posted to the Nature's Harvest® Facebook page from September 14, 2015 to September 20, 2015 for fans to vote and winners will be revealed in mid-October.

The grand prize winner will receive a "Kitchen Crash" from Kelsey Nixon where she will prepare sandwich-centric meals with the winner's family and provide fun sandwich making tips the whole family can follow implement.

"As a mom, I want the best for my son—and most importantly, I want him to get the nutrients he needs as he continues to grow," says Kelsey Nixon, mom, celebrity chef and star of Kelsey's Essentials on Cooking Channel. "Today, children are spending more time in front of the television and sometimes it's easy to forget our kids can have just as much fun spending time in the kitchen with their parents. I am thrilled to be involved with the Nature's Harvest® Sandwich Art Photo Contest because it is a fun and creative way to get kids excited about nutritious food."
