It's been a whirlwind of a year for a specialty Humboldt bakery that is currently in the process of moving into a larger kitchen and increasing its presence in Northern California through a contract with Whole Foods Market.
Natural Decadence started as a catering company three years ago, but last year began selling one type of pie in the North Coast Co-op in Arcata. As they grew in popularity, so did their list of products. About a year later, the bakery now makes 16 different types of delicacies, including pies, cookies, cookie dough and graham crackers.
Their products recently caught the eye of Whole Foods Market, a natural foods store with more than 300 outlets in North America and the United Kingdom. What makes Natural Decadence's products unique is its use of entirely gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free and nut-free ingredients, making its baked goods especially friendly for those with certain food allergies.
Natural Decadence co-owner Rosa Dixon said their products are in 25 Whole Foods Markets in Northern California, and will be in a total of 70 natural grocery stores by the end of the year.
