One of Baltimore's own; Christopher Tsakalos, Operations Manager, H&S Bakery, Inc. will be the recipient of the "Greek America's Forty Under 40" Award at a reception in New York City on Saturday, April 28, 2012.
The Greek America Foundation hosts a ceremony named the Gabby Awards. These awards serve as the "Oscars" in the Greek American Community and were created to celebrate the excellence that Greek American's has achieved in not one particular field, but in multiple arenas. The foundation also publishes the Greek America Magazine, sends students to Greece on a Hellenic Legacy Fund Scholarship, and they also host the National Innovation Conference in which they select forty Greek Americans Under 40 to receive an award for their success at what they do as well as their remarkable stewardship within their community.
Baking is tradition for Christopher N. Tsakalos. It actually runs in the family. This 31-year-old is a third generation family member baker and operations manager of H&S Bakery the largest privately-owned bakery in the United States.
The first bakery was opened by his grandfather, Harry Tsakalos and great grandfather, Isidoros (Steve) Paterakis. Today, H&S Bakery, along with its affiliates, is comprised of 14 divisions operating in seven states with distribution in 23 states.
