In 1946, Premier Baking Co. opened in Pensacola and quickly lived up to its name, establishing itself as the premier local bread bakery in the area for more than half a century from its West Garden Street location.
Beginning Nov. 1, the brain trust at the Cypress restaurant that assumed the former Premier location — and inherited most of the vintage bread-baking equipment — will launch Emerald Coast Bread Co.
“This building was built to produce bread,” said Cypress part owner McKenzie Lovelace. “We have the luxury of the equipment that was already here, we have the original butcher block tables, we have the original stoves that work. The Hobart mixers are from the (1950s) and have been serviced, so they’re in great shape.”
