DecoPac Acquires Bakery Crafts

ANOKA, Minn. & WEST CHESTER, Ohio – DecoPac, Inc., the premier supplier of cake decorations to professional cake decorators and bakeries today announced that it has completed the acquisition of West Chester, Ohio-based Bakery Crafts, a privately held manufacturer of high-quality cake decorations. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This is an exciting day for DecoPac and Bakery Crafts, two financially strong companies with complementary product lines, markets and approaches to conducting business,” said Mike McGlynn, DecoPac’s CEO. “As a combined organization we bring more than 150 years of bakery and cake decorating heritage. This move provides additional scale and product lines, and even greater creativity, marketing, design and development capabilities—to enhance product offerings and capabilities for customers and consumers.”

DecoPac has no current plans for facility consolidation or leadership changes at either organization. The Guttman family is fully supportive of this transaction and will be enjoying a well-deserved retirement after leading its family business for nearly 70 years. All Bakery Crafts employees will transition over to the new Bakery Crafts, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DecoPac. The companies will continue to operate as they have previously, as DecoPac and Bakery Crafts, with DecoPac as the sole owner of both entities.

Said McGlynn, “We’re thrilled to welcome the Bakery Crafts team—they have a long and highly respected history in the market. And I want to assure both companies’ customers, that from their perspective, it’ll be business as usual. This is simply a change in ownership and we will continue to serve customers from our two locations. However, we will focus on how we can make it easier for customers to do business with our two companies and further strengthen service.”

Sam Guttman, CEO of Bakery Crafts said, “We believe DecoPac will provide a rewarding environment for our valued employees, vendors and customers to continue the brand loyalty we began building in 1947. Ironically, my parents made sales calls on Mike McGlynn in the early 1970s when he was Vice President of McGlynn Bakeries. We look forward to watching the new organization grow and flourish.”
