Washington, D.C.—The American Bakers Association is pleased to announce that Dana and Brett Quigley will serve as the tournament pros during the 2013 Paul Abenante PEC Golf Tournament on Tuesday, April 23, at the ABA Convention in Aventura, Fla.
“We are very excited to welcome Dana and Brett Quigley to ABA’s 2013 Convention as our guest golf pros — a first for the ABA Convention to have golf pros from both the PGA and the Champions Tour,” said ABA President and CEO Robb MacKie. “We also are very pleased with the response for the tournament, especially by bakers who have signed up in record numbers. The support for ABA's political education programs and our allied supporters is terrific to see.”
Dana Quigley, a golf professional since 1971, spent many years as a club professional while winning 18 local PGA tournaments in the New England area. He has enjoyed a career resurgence since joining the PGA Champions Tour in 1997, winning 11 tournaments on the tour as well as being the 2005 Champions Tour Player of the Year.
Brett Quigley, Dana’s nephew, turned pro in 1991 after winning the 1987 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and attending the University of South Carolina where he was twice an Academic All-American. Brett has spent his career playing on the PGA and Nationwide Tours where he won the 1997 Nike Philadelphia Classic and the Buy.com Arkansas Classic and also finished top 20 on the PGA Tour money list in 2006.
The Paul Abenante PEC Golf Tournament is designed as a fun event for golfers of all abilities to join in support of ABA’s political education activities. The proceeds of the tournament are invested in critically-important programs such as ABA’s “Rise to Action” grassroots Web Site, congressional directories, and acquiring high-profile speakers. It also is a fun way for bakers and suppliers to conduct some informal networking.
The 2013 ABA Convention is the premier industry event of the year. This year’s theme, “Staying Ahead of the Curve When You Don’t Know What’s Around the Bend,” is a nod to the constantly changing trends, shifting consumer tastes, new technology, government regulations and the almost impossible task of staying current and competitive in today’s marketplace. The ABA Convention brings together the top leaders from America’s baking businesses and their suppliers for networking, idea exchange, and working sessions.
