Conshohocken Italian Bakery Blesses New & Improved Oven

The Conshohocken Italian Bakery is welcoming a new member to its kitchen with a blessing.

A newly installed Alitech thermal tunnel oven will be blessed in a customary ceremony at the popular bakery located at 79 Jones Street on Dec. 6. His Reverend Father Gasper A. Genuardi of SS Comas & Damian Church will officiate the ritual.

This unique blessing ritual began in 1987 with the installation of the bakery’s first Thermotun oven.

“It was our first purchase of an oven of this magnitude,” said the bakery’s Business Administrator Tina Gambone. “It was a huge undertaking. Being of Italian descent, it was important to both partners to have this sacred ritual performed to bring God’s spirit and protect the oven from misfortune.”
