Two Greater Cincinnati-based companies have teamed up to take a favorite Cincinnati cookie nationwide. Busken Bakery and Hebron-based Galerie are partnering to sell Busken’s Original Iced Cookies stamped with Valentine’s Day messages in 3,200 Walmart stores across the United States.
Busken’s contribution to the deal is its famous sugar cookie, most recognizable when iced with a smiley face. Galerie’s expertise is the packaging and marketing of candies and confections, which it does from its corporate headquarters and distribution center in Hebron. Busken has never had national distribution before now. Galeria is one of the largest non-branded seasonal novelty suppliers to Walmart.
It’s the kind of deal a company might chase for a long time. But the impetus came originally from Walmart. “A Walmart buyer came to a Galerie Christmas party,” said Dan Busken, president and chief executive officer of the family owned bakery.
