The company leased 186,000 square feet at 1001 Industrial Highway and now occupies a total of 395,000 square feet. The lease fills space that had been vacant for the last five years. The property is owned by an affiliate of Novaya Real Estate Ventures.
The additional space will allow Barry Callebaut to add manufacturing lines for its cocoa products and to grow its domestically-produced line of powder and butter, the company said.
The company maintains an R&D facility at 903 Industrial Highway in Eddystone as well as 1500 Suckle Highway and 9155 River Road in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

Barry Callebaut is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. It gained a larger foothold in the region when in 2007 it bought Philadelphia-area cocoa company Food Processing International Inc. from private investors. The acquisition enabled the company at the time to double its annual production capacity at Food Processing’s Eddystone plant to 110 million pounds of unsweetened, liquid chocolate known as cocoa liquor. Hardened, it’s known as baking chocolate.
