Ardent Mills Renews Partnership With The Colorado Rapids In 'Corners To Curb Hunger'

DENVER — Ardent Mills, the premier flour-milling and ingredient company, is partnering for a second year with the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS) for a season-long giving program to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies.

"With every corner kick by the Colorado Rapids this season, we will donate 500 meals to fight hunger through Food Bank of the Rockies," says Dan Dye, CEO of Ardent Mills. "If they score on a kick, we will increase the donation to 1,000 meals. Last year, the Rapids made 199 corner kicks. We were able to donate 100,000 meals to battle hunger in this region through this effort. At Ardent Mills, we are continuing our commitment to supporting the communities where we live and work by donating products, volunteering time and talent as well as supporting local businesses."

Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey notes, "We are proud to again partner with Ardent Mills, a provider of nutritious grain-based flours and ingredients, and Food Bank of the Rockies to make a difference in thousands of lives in Colorado and Wyoming. We understand the importance of food as fuel for solid physical performance and want everyone to have access to great nutrition."

"We provide food for nearly half a million hungry men, women and children. This partnership is important to all our neighbors struggling with hunger and good nutrition in our service area." according to Kevin Seggelke, President and CEO with Food Bank of the Rockies. "Sadly, 1 in 7 Coloradans worry where their next meal will come from."

Later this season, Ardent Mills will be hosting a Food Drive to Kick Hunger, where fans will be encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to a Rapids game to support Food Bank of the Rockies. In partnership with the Colorado Rapids and Denver Nuggets, Ardent Mills is also sponsoring the Team Fit program which is designed to educate elementary and middle school students on healthy eating and fitness.
