ABA members Hayden Wands with Bimbo Bakeries USA, Mark Worthey with Flowers Foods, and Steve Stocksdale with Krispy Kreme, visited with members of Congress and their staff last week to discuss the Farm Bill and urge reform of the current U.S. sugar program. Current U.S. sugar policy restricts supplies by limiting imports, with the U.S. Department of Commerce estimating that over 125,000 food manufacturing jobs were lost between 1997 and 2010 due to the impact of the sugar program.
ABA will continue to work with Congress to seek needed reforms. For more information on the current U.S. sugar program, click here.
