At ABA 2014 Fall Policy Conference held in Washington last week, several ABA Committee meetings took place where ABA members addressed key concerns to the baking industry in the areas of commodities and agriculture, energy and environment, safety. The ABA Legal Committee also met to address the legal ramifications of several food safety and health care proposals on the table.
Several meeting attendees also had the opportunity to go on Hill visits with the ABA’s Executive Leadership Development Committee. ABA members met with lawmakers or staff members on specific issues having a major financial impact on baking companies such as FDA’s Nutrition Facts Panel changes proposal, delays in railway grain shipments and Mexican Sugar imports.
