A Dover-area company is being honored with an Agri-Food Innovation Award from the province.
Pier-C Produce Inc. is being recognized for introducing the Tag to Bag system which tracks each individual bag of carrots they ship. Each bag is stamped with the production date and farm origin on the tape that holds the bag of carrots shut.
Francisca Fournier with the company says the system will help them move quickly should food safety issues arise. “It’s wonderful to be recognized for something that you’re just doing to keep the consumer safe. As far as I’m concerned traceability is really important.”
