Duck Delivery of Washington, Inc. has completed an 8-month facility expansion to meet growing needs of restaurant and institutional customers in Washington State.  The additional 30,000 high cube sq. ft. raises overall capacity to 50,000 sq. ft.   Loading bay docks have been increased from 3 to 16, along with 18,000 sq. ft. additional refrigeration space and 2,000 sq. ft. additional freezer capacity.

The facility meets or exceeds industry food safety standards.  It has earned the Safe Quality Foods Level 3 Certification which requires full implementation of food safety and quality management systems.  SQF level 3 is the highest certification awarded by GFSI-Global Food Safety Initiative. The new space has been designed and built to achieve optimal efficiency in energy consumption through the use of state of the art temperature monitors in the 16 produce refrigeration rooms.  The monitoring equipment continually measures temperatures and minimizes fluctuation.  The result is less energy consumption.  In addition, 95% of all paper, cardboard and wood is recycled locally.

The project was led by Washington based General Contractor, TEAM Construction along with several specialists including  Harper Houf Peterson Righellis, Inc. ( Civil Engineer); EHS-Design ( Architects );  and Lewis and Van Vleet, Inc. ( Structural Engineer)

According to President, Ernie Spada, Jr., “We feel the greater Seattle area offers an opportunity to raise the bar for delivery of consistently-high quality fresh produce.  Duck Delivery will also distribute a selection of fresh processed items from Mary’s Harvest Fresh Foods. This expanded facility enables us to be an even stronger partner for restaurants and institutions.”
