Market Fresh Produce Introduces New Line Of Specialty Potatoes

Market Fresh Produce, revealed their new line of gourmet specialty potato products at last week’s PMA Fresh Summit in Anaheim, CA. Red and gold potatoes, including fingerlings as well as “B” and “C” size, will be offered in 24-ounce fresh pack poly mesh bags, along with microwave food safe plastic bags and 20-pound bulk cartons.

“This expansion to the current Market Fresh Produce Brand allows us to offer retailers a complete line up for their potato category,” said Mike Kemp, Business Analyst for Market Fresh Produce. “Consumers are becoming more interested in a variety of potatoes, and this line will meet their needs. Pack sizes allow the consumer the option of paying for the microwave convenience or fresh pack bags that they can prepare in a more traditional manner. We also feel the 20-pound cartons will be a plus for the retail and foodservice industry allowing faster turns which equates to fresher product and reduced shrink.”

Kemp said new offerings will include the following: Fresh pack poly mesh bags of: 24 oz. Red and Gold Fingerlings; 24 oz. Red and Gold Petites (“C” size) in three skus (Red, Gold, and Mixed Red & Gold); 2 lb. Red and Gold Baby (“B” size) in two skus (Red and Gold); Microwave food safe plastic bags – 12 oz. of Red and Gold (“C” size) in two skus (Red and Gold); and 20-pound bulk cartons of fingerlings, “C” size, and “B” size products.
