Atalanta Wins Multiple Prizes At 2012 Global Cheese Awards

Elizabeth, NJ – Atalanta Corporation took home several top prizes at the 2012 Global Cheese Awards in September. Crowned as the Supreme Champion of the event was the Tuxford & Tebbutt Blue Stilton, taking home a total of five awards. Their Red Leicester from the Taw Valley also took home top honors in the “Red Leicester” category.
Coombe Castle’s Wexford Creamery placed in the “Mature Cheddar” and “Vintage Cheddar” categories for their authentic Irish cheddar.
Beemster cheese won two gold medals and one silver medal at the Awards. Grand prize for Best European Cheese was awarded to Beemster Classic, while a second gold medal went to Beemster 2% Milk in the “Reduced Fat” category. A silver medal was awarded to the Beemster Farmers Choice.
The Global Cheese Awards is one of the most famous cheese competitions in England. This year, more than 1,000 varieties of cheese were submitted in 170 different categories.
