Horizon Nut Company Recognized For Safety Standards

Tulare County food processor Horizon Nut Company was awarded by an international group for its product safety standards.

Horizon was recognized for the second year in a row by the British Retail Consortium with an "A" score, taking into account the company's technology and processes that increase efficiency, safety and quality.

The British Retail Consortium standards are used by certificated suppliers to ensure food safety in more than 90 countries and is required for many suppliers by retailers and manufacturers throughout Europe and North America.

Horizon, which handles more than 35 million pounds of pistachios every year, sells and markets its nuts through Meridian Nut Growers of Clovis.
