GLENDALE, WI – Maglio & Company gained certification to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Food Technical Standard for Food Safety Issue 6 with a passing grade of A in April for the second year in a row. The BRC Global Standards are a set of four standards that specify requirements to be met by food manufacturers to ensure safe food production, packaging, storage and distribution.

“Prevention is our philosophy when it comes to food security,” said Sam Maglio, President of Maglio & Company. “In order to maintain our commitment to food safety and keep in touch with the ever changing government regulations and recommendations, we must take a vigilant approach. Renewing our BRC certification each year is just one way we can remain proactive.”

The BRC audit for Maglio was administered by CERT ID LC, a licensed third party Certification Body that adheres to stringent BRC guidelines for auditor integrity. After achieving accreditation to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 5 in 2011, Maglio gained certification to Issue 6 in 2012. Key changes for Issue 6 of the BRC audit include more extensive guidelines on foreign body control, hygiene and housekeeping, and allergens, as well as a voluntary unannounced audit scheme and streamlined clauses for consistency of grading. Overall, the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 6 evaluation covers seven sections including:

· Senior Management Commitment
