Petite Brie-Style Cheeses Garner Gold & Silver At 2018 World Cheese Awards

Petaluma, CA  – Three of Marin French Cheese’s 4-ounce soft-ripened cheeses in its Petite Collection won Gold at the Worlds Cheese Awards in Norway on November 2, 2018, including Petite Cendrée, Petite Crème and Petite Supreme. The brands’ iconic, fresh Petite Breakfast cheese garnered a Silver award.

Elegant, triple-crème Brie-style wheels, Marin French Cheese’s Petites are made with fresh cow’s milk and cream from neighboring Marin County dairies within 20 miles of the creamery. Each handcrafted Petite cheese exemplifies the regional terroir, the characteristics of authentic varietal cultures, and careful ripening techniques. The unique size of the Petite Collection cheeses offers the consumer convenience, versatility, a variety of flavors, and affordability.

Other honors conferred to the Marin French Cheese team of dedicated cheesemakers during this recent competition include a Silver for its 1.1-pound Supreme, a decadent snowy-white wheel with an aroma of sweet milk and a fluffy, whipped-cream texture, while orange-hued Schloss, a wash-rinded cheese with a savory, full-flavored taste, a hearty aroma, and a soft creamy texture earned a Bronze medal.

Also on an impressive note, Sonoma-based sister company, Laura Chenel’s, received accolades for its delicate-flavored, aged Ash-rinded Buchette with a Gold medal, while the brand’s goat brie, with grassy and nutty flavors and a hint of lemon, brought home a Silver honor.

“Each year we are impressed by the increasing level of competition at this highly regarded contest,” notes Eric Barthome, CEO, Marin French Cheese and Laura Chenel’s. “We are very proud of our cheesemaking teams at both Marin French and Laura Chenel’s for being such strong contenders where ingenuity, skill and know-how are key,” he adds.

The World Cheese Awards is organized by the Guild of Fine Foods, formed in 1995. This year, the annual competition saw a record 3,472 cheeses, representing 30 countries. For a full list of awards, visit https://results.gff.co.uk/wc/2018.
