Grocer Albertsons Cos said Thursday that it will expand the availability of Plated meal kits to hundreds of stores nationwide. It's currently in 40 stores at Northern California Safeway stores and Chicago area Jewel-Osco locations. Albertsons bought Plated last year. Meal kits, like those offered by Blue Apron Holdings Inc. and Purple Carrot, have gained popularity with more grocers like Walmart Inc. adding them to their shelves. By the end of 2018, Plated meal kits will be in select stores including Albertsons, Acme, and Vons.
