Challenge Dairy Brings Challenge Butter To Midwest
November 11, 2011 | 2 min to read
Dublin, Calif. – Challenge Butter, the largest butter brand in the West, is entering new territory in its 100th year: the Midwest. Unsalted and Salted varieties of Challenge Butter are hitting Wal-Mart shelves in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky this month in addition to Dominick’s in the Chicago area. This expansion follows Challenge’s entrance into the exporting arena in 2008 and its position today as the largest exporter of butter in the United States.
“What better time to enter the Midwest than in our 100th year,” said Irvin Holmes, CEO of Challenge Dairy Products, Inc. “We’re confident that the care and attention we give Challenge Butter will quickly capture the hearts of Midwesterners.”
Midwest butter fans can expect to find the following varieties:
· Challenge Butter Regular and Unsalted in 1 lb. boxes (MSRP: $3.49)
· Challenge Butter Whipped in 8 oz. tubs (MSRP: $1.99)
· Challenge Butter Spreadable in 15 oz. tubs (MSRP: $2.99)
Since its inception in 1911, Challenge Butter has been a pioneer in the industry in quality assurance as well as innovation with many firsts under its belt, including:
· The first lab sampling of all butter to ensure quality;
· The first consumer size Swiss cheese package;
· The invention of a metal churn, in place of a wooden churn, which soon became an industry standard;
· The practice of shipping butter in paper rather than in heavy wooden crates;
· The introduction of the ½ gallon carton of milk instead of quart cartons.
