Southeastern Grocers Names IRI As Its Preferred Analytics Provider In Market Measurement, Loyalty & Supply Chain

CHICAGO & JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — IRI®, a global leader in innovative solutions and services for consumer, retail, media and over-the-counter health care companies, announced today that it has reached a long-term agreement with Southeastern Grocers (SEG) to leverage analytics to better serve its existing customers and attract new shoppers. SEG is the fifth-largest supermarket chain in the United States based on store count and is the parent company of Winn-Dixie, BI-LO, Harveys and Fresco y Más grocery stores.

IRI will be SEG’s preferred provider for market measurement services, which provide SEG and its supplier partners a common view of their business performance compared to the rest of the market. IRI’s Unify visualization capabilities on the IRI Liquid Data®technology platform incorporate extensive product movement and causal data — which includes weather, gas and macroeconomic factors — and will help both SEG and its suppliers collaborate more easily and make better decisions to benefit customers. In addition, SEG’s loyalty card and supply chain data will be integrated into the Liquid Data platform and fused with real-time analytics to put the consumer at the center of every marketing campaign.

SEG will use the IRI Liquid Data platform and its Unify visualization capabilities to integrate and report transaction, loyalty card, promotional and other data sources through a single platform across all of SEG’s retail formats. This web-based platform, called the SEG Collaborative Gateway, will allow SEG and its supplier partners to access intuitive, flexible and fast insights for joint business planning.

In addition, IRI’s Jacksonville-based client service teams will support suppliers’ data and insight analyses, as well as SEG’s use of advanced price and promotion analytics to help further enhance marketing and merchandising activities.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Southeastern Grocers and leveraging the best tools and technology that will allow SEG and its suppliers to access industry-leading market insights that will create even better experiences for its shoppers,” said Andrew Appel, president and chief executive officer of IRI. “Our alliance will allow Southeastern Grocers to experience unparalleled growth and enable its suppliers to drive maximum value to their consumers.”

“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance our franchise,” said Anthony Hucker, president and chief executive officer (interim) of Southeastern Grocers. “We are eager to align our core business processes around IRI’s technology and leverage the real-time data and insights to better connect with our customers, collaborate with our suppliers and increase sales.”
