Fremont City Council OKs Plans For Bigger Costco Chicken Operation

FREMONT — The Fremont City Council has approved plans for a bigger Costco Wholesale chicken operation on more than 400 acres of land southeast of the city.

The council voted 8-0 to approve the plans at its Tuesday night meeting.

The processing plant as approved would cover 360,000 square feet, compared with the original plan for 250,000 square feet. An associated hatchery would cover 85,000 square feet — up from 75,000 square feet. Plans also call for a 32,000-square-foot feed mill.
