CHESHIRE, CT – Shoppers at Adams Hometown Market, Better Valu, and Tri Town Foods donated more than $12,000 at checkouts in support of The Great American Milk Drive, with the funds being distributed in the form of milk vouchers to clients of the Connecticut Food Bank.
Adams Hometown Market shoppers donated $1, $3, or $5, or rounded up their change at the register during the drive in June. The amount raised totaled $12,232, the most successful drive yet, say organizers. The retailer has participated in The Great American Milk Drive since 2014, raising over $25,000 in milk donations for the Connecticut Food Bank.
The effort was part of a national program aimed at providing highly desired and nutrient-rich gallons of milk to hungry families who need it most. The local effort also involved the New England Dairy Promotion Board’s Must Be the Milk program, Guida’s Dairy, and the dairy farm families of Connecticut.
The donation drive included 12 Adams Hometown Market, Better Valu, and Tri Town Foods locations.
