CHICAGO — In tribute to his dedication to the foodservice industry and his service on the IFMA Board of Directors, The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) awarded its Distinguished Foodservice Executive Award to Simon Marshall of Unilever Food Solutions.
Marshall is the fifth person to receive this award in IFMA's 63-year history. The award was presented to Marshall during the COEX winter Board of Directors Meeting, on March 6, 2016 in Las Vegas. This award was established to honor executives who have made outstanding contributions to the foodservice industry and have served on the IFMA Board of Directors.
"Simon Marshall has brought much more to IFMA than just outstanding managerial talent and ongoing leadership," said IFMA President and CEO Larry Oberkfell. "In addition, Simon has brought a passion toward our Vision and Mission, which focuses the industry's attention on collaborating to win the consumer's choice for foodservice. It is our privilege to recognize Simon for his unrelenting service and dedication to this amazing industry."
After being a manufacturer member of IFMA for several years, Marshall joined the IFMA Board of Directors in 2013, where he has lead numerous initiatives that have helped build a solid foundation for the future. He has served on IFMA's Consumer Planning Program and Presidents Conference Committees. Marshall first joined Unilever HPC in 1979, where he held several positions of increasing responsibility in customer development, marketing and finance before being moved to general management in 2004. He joined Unilever Food Solutions at the end of 2005, running the UK/Ireland business until being promoted to his current position of President, Unilever Food Solutions North America, in 2009.
"IFMA gives voice to those who want to significantly advance the industry in a way that enhances the consumer's enjoyment of the foodservice choice," Marshall said. "From the new insights we have developed to the best practices that have been introduced to the industry, I am both humbled and proud to have been a part of IFMA's Board of Directors for the last several years. And to now receive this award from IFMA, it is truly an honor that I greatly appreciate."
