CASHMERE, Wash. — Crunch Pak®, the industry leader in fresh sliced apples, [had] a larger presence at the upcoming PMA Fresh Summit in Orlando.

Crunch Pak’s expanded 20 x 40-foot booth (#231) included a cooking station featuring Chef Tim Putnam, owner of Smokeblossom in Wenatchee, Wash.

To bring a bit of the Northwest flavor to the show, Putnam served lemongrass-cured salmon with double apple Crunch Pak chop atop 2-inch cedar plank chips.

Also on the menu: Toasted curry Waldorf salad with Creole candied pecans; Crunch Pak tart sliced apples with brie and prosciutto wafers; and Granny Smith bread pudding.

The Crunch Pak booth also featured a new display for Disney Garden Foodle products and a BK® Fresh Apple Fries dedicated display.

Crunch Pak debuted new products at the show including Just Grapes, which are de-stemmed, cleaned and ready to eat fresh grapes, produced in partnership with HMC in Kingsburg, Calif.; and a new deli tray consisting of Crunch Pak apples, vegetables, dipping sauces, cheeses, meats and crackers.

“Our expanded booth size and menu offerings are representative of the tremendous growth of Crunch Pak this year,” said Tony Freytag, national marketing director for Crunch Pak. “This is our 10th anniversary and we wanted to do something big at PMA to celebrate.”

In addition to the PMA Fresh Summit, October marks the beginning of production at Crunch Pak’s new Pennsylvania plant. The plant will produce 240,000 pounds of fresh sliced apples per week, half of which will be sourced from the Northeast.

“Given our new products and growth this year, we knew we’d need more space to share the information with our customers at PMA,” Freytag said. “We’re excited to play a larger role at such an important gathering of produce industry leaders.”
