A business that produces millions of eggs right here in Great Falls is preparing to expand, and is looking to the city for some help in order to increase production.

When production at Montana Eggs began in 1997, there were 15 participating Hutterite colonies; now the company sells eggs from 26 colonies in Montana. The business contributes an estimated $25-million dollars to the local economy; some of their customers include Albertson's, Sam's Club, and local restaurants, and production spans across the state and even into Idaho and Oregon.

The planned expansion will cost a total of nearly $3-million dollars and is expected to increase production by 20% after the first year. Ike Hofer, operations manager for Montana Eggs, said, "We plan to expand every year, to keep going."
