Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. has announced a successor to Jerry Garland, president and CEO of the Kansas City area's second-largest private company by revenue.
David Smith, executive vice president of operations, will assume his new role in January.
Garland joined AWG 25 years ago and has been president and CEO since 2009. During that time, he's helped the cooperative increase sales by 31 percent and net income by 70 percent, according to a release. Garland will continue to serve in an advisory role.
