Steve and Ginnie Tate never thought they’d become farmers when they were growing up on their parents’ farm in Illinois. But since 1995, the Goat Lady Dairy in Climax has grown from a hobby farm to a million-dollar business.
“There never was a discussion about my sister and I becoming farmers,” Steve Tate said. “It was assumed we would go to college.”
And that’s what they did — at first. Ginnie Tate, Steve’s elder sister by 11 years, became a nurse, and Steve became a counselor.
