The idea for Gameday Sammich sprang from Dillard’s barbecue recipe, a tender and moist version that he developed for his daughter Mary Glenn’s birthday campout.

Business partners Doug Dillard, Marcus Simmons, Phillip Chastain, Francis Mallory and Scott Crymes are building a business that sells a variety of microwaveable sandwiches and other food items that are being distributed to convenience and grocery stores, and are sold at Sanford Stadium during home football games.

The partners recently purchased a wrapping machine they have set up to use in a Watkinsville facility and have begun packaging their barbecue sandwiches and cheeseburgers. Bravo Foods in Statham has been handling the wrapping process.

After the sandwiches are wrapped, they are sent to the VersaCold facility in Pendergrass for freezer storage before shipping them off to retail stores.
"From there we can ship them anywhere in Southeast within 10 days," Dillard said.
