After being on strike for more than two weeks, workers at the Olymel Vallée-Jonction meat packing food processing company have come to accept a tentative agreement.
The new six-year contract gives employees a lump sum of $800 and $55 per year, as of the signing.
The 940 unionized employees will receive a 2 per cent salary increase the first two years, and 1.5 per cent increase follow that.
Union president Martin Maurice claims to have negotiated the "maximum" under the circumstances, since the employer threatened to close the evening shift if an agreement was not reached.
