Gellert Global Group Wins 2026 Sustainability Award

ELIZABETH, N.J. — Gellert Global Group (GGG), one of North America’s largest food importers, has been named a 2026 Sustainability Award winner by The Shelby Report, a trade publication covering the U.S. grocery and food retail industries.
The award recognizes food industry companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability through efforts such as reducing waste, supporting communities and improving operational efficiency. At GGG, that commitment is reflected in investments in renewable energy, waste reduction and recovery programs, responsible sourcing partnerships, and employee-led initiatives that benefit the business and the communities it serves.
“We’re proud of the progress GGG continues to make toward a more sustainable future,” said Amy Gellert Lebovitz, chief of culture at Gellert Global Group. “Through thoughtful collaboration and a shared commitment across our organization, we are identifying meaningful ways to reduce our environmental impact and strengthen our positive impact on the communities we serve. Key sustainability initiatives recognized by the award include:
- Renewable energy: More than 3,000 solar panels installed, a fleet that is 96% electric forklifts, and 100% LED lighting across GGG-owned facilities.
- Waste reduction and recovery: Donation of 150,000 pounds of food to food banks in 2025 and generation of 87,718 kilowatt-hours of clean energy through food waste recycling.
- Responsible sourcing: Partnerships with regenerative and organic producers worldwide, from Greek olive groves to Peruvian agribusiness leaders.
- Employee engagement: Sustainability education, volunteer cleanups and community garden initiatives that empower employees to make a difference.
