YIWU, China — NB8 Floral, an artificial flower manufacturer supplying florists and event planners in the United States, has published an open analysis of what artificial flowers cost per stem, based on 2,383 priced variations across 373 designs in its live catalogue.

The company divided each variation’s list price by the number of stems in its carton. Two findings run against common buyer assumptions:

• Material is a small lever. The median real touch stem cost $2.82, against $2.43 for silk, a gap of about 16% rather than the two- or three-times premium buyers often expect.

• Pack size is a large one. Cartons of 25 stems or fewer had a median of $3.36 per stem; cartons of more than 60 stems, $1.64. That is a 51% difference on comparable products.

The analysis also found that price spread inside a single material is wider than the gap between materials: silk alone ranged from $1.40 to $3.55 per stem between the 10th and 90th percentiles. Foam was the most expensive material per stem at a $3.74 median, largely because it is used for large fruit heads that pack few to a carton.

“Buyers tend to negotiate hard on material, which is the 16% lever, and skip the carton count, which is the 51% one,” said Yang Yue, founder of NB8 Floral. “Asking for a per-stem price and planning the stem count before ordering usually saves more than trading down on quality.”

The figures are list prices from one supplier’s catalogue, read on September 21, 2026, before freight and duty. NB8 Floral notes that they are not a market survey and that other suppliers’ prices will differ.
