American Cheese Society Relaunches Safe Cheesemaking Hub with New Food Safety Tools

DENVER, CO – The Safe Cheesemaking Hub has been thoroughly renovated and expanded to provide better support for the artisan cheese community. Originally launched in 2016 as a central resource for artisan cheesemakers to access information on cheesemaking and cheese food safety, the Safe Cheesemaking Hub has long served both newcomers and experienced makers seeking reliable, practical guidance.
This recent overhaul is the result of months of hands-on collaboration between ACS volunteers, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, cheesemakers of all sizes, universities, and industry partners.
The refreshed site brings together several essential resources in one place, including the revised ACS Best Practices Guide and the Innovation Center’s Pathogen Control Guidance Document. It also introduces a brand-new collection of food safety documents and training videos fully available in both English and Spanish, designed to help cheesemakers run their operations safely and smoothly.
“Finding reliable food safety information takes a lot of time, and it can be tough for cheesemakers to know which resources to trust,” says Tara Holmes, Executive Director of the American Cheese Society. “Relaunching the Safe Cheesemaking Hub gives our community a clean, straightforward space to find the exact guidance they need. Our goal is to handle the heavy lifting on the compliance side so our makers can focus on running their creameries and making great cheese.”
“The great thing about the Safe Cheesemaking Hub is it brings food safety resources into one place for artisan cheesemakers,” adds Chad Galer, Chair of the Food Safety & Regulatory Committee. “By the industry working together, it helps to ensure that these cheeses are not only delicious, but also safe.”
While the Hub is housed on the ACS website, it remains accessible through safecheesemaking.org and safecheesemaking.com.
The cheese community is encouraged to check out the revamped platform and share these free resources with other makers and teams across the industry.
