Andre Morris Claims Top Award At Brisbane Cheese Awards

Witches Chase cheesemaker Andre Morris, says he follows his heart, not the latest trends in the highly competitive Australian market.
That strategy paid off at last night's Brisbane Cheese Awards when he picked up the Primary Industries Cup for best Queensland entry with a seriously offbeat style.
His "chevphilly" is a rustic goat milk version of caerphilly, a crumbly white and slightly tangy cheddar-style cheese named after a town in Wales.
"It is a pressed cheese with an edible rind that has a incredible musty flavour. Eat it with a nice soft wine like a pinot noir or pinot gris, or a Witches Fall botrytis."
Morris was thrilled by the award and the gold medals for the chevphilly and traditional caerphilly made at the Mount Tamborine establishment he runs with wife Meredith.
He was also over the moon at the strong showing of other Queensland producers who he described as "partners, not competitors".
