Tuberbulb Export BV (part of the CSW Group in Hillegom) will take over the summer goods trading activities of Van Zanten Flowerbulbs starting in the 2026 harvest. This acquisition not only contributes to further volume growth for Tuberbulb Export but also strengthens its specialized knowledge of tulips, including tulip forcing. The expertise of both companies and their extensive product range create opportunities for further development for customers.

With the acquisition, the valuable knowledge and experience built up by Van Zanten Flowerbulbs over the past 164 years will be preserved and accessible to the market and future generations. The experienced team will also be joining the company, located in the same village.
The integration of the trading activities will enable Tuberbulb to operate even more efficiently and achieve further growth. This step aligns seamlessly with Tuberbulb’s strategy: maintaining its leading position in global flower bulb exports with a strong focus on Asia.

“The best of both worlds.”
Tuberbulb Export, founded in 1990, is a global supplier of top-quality flower bulbs and perennials. Its primary export markets are Japan, China, South Korea, the United States, and Canada, with a customer base that includes wholesalers, retailers, and companies active in the development of parks and public green spaces. With the acquisition of the trading business and its experienced team, Tuberbulb has added expertise in treatments and tulip forcing.

John Boot, Managing Director of Tuberbulb Export: ” After a period of intensive and constructive discussions, I’m delighted that the acquisition has now been successfully completed. I’m confident that by combining our strengths and expertise, we’ll be able to serve our customers even better in the future. ‘The best of both worlds!’ “

Last part of Van Zanten Flowerbulbs in good hands.
With the acquisition of the summer goods, Van Zanten is saying goodbye to the last part of Royal Van Zanten’s flower bulb division. Earlier this year, the lily breeding division was sold to Hobaho in Lisse, and recently the lily trading and nursery in New Zealand was transferred to Onings Holland Flowerbulbs in Poeldijk.

” We are thrilled to have entered into discussions with John Boot and achieved such a great result. Tuberbulb is a fantastic company with growth potential and ambitious plans. We are also convinced that the colleagues who join us will find a good workplace with a similar corporate culture, ” says Klaas Jan Vijn, Managing Director of Van Zanten Flowerbulbs.

In the coming period, colleagues from both companies will work together to ensure a smooth integration and maintain the strong relationships with growers, customers, and other stakeholders. In addition, time and energy will be invested in the merger of both teams.

On May 31, 2026, Van Zanten Flowerbulbs, one of the oldest flower bulb companies in the Netherlands, will close its doors in Hillegom for good.
