Central Point, OR – Rogue Creamery is proud to announce that team member Chelsea Faris is among the 2014 class of American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professionals™ (ACS CCPs™). Chelsea is part of an elite group of 153 individuals from 32 different companies who passed the 3rd annual ACS Certified Cheese Professional Exam. The exam was held on July 29 in Sacramento, California. ACS CCPs currently total 406 individuals throughout the United States and Canada.
The ACS Certified Cheese Professional Exam is the first and only exam of its kind. It was established by the American Cheese Society to encourage high standards of comprehensive cheese knowledge and service for professionals in all areas of the industry. The exam is based on the knowledge and skills required to successfully perform cheese-related tasks in jobs throughout the industry. Testing encompasses a broad range of topics including raw ingredients, the cheesemaking process, storing and handling cheese, selecting distributors, marketing and communicating about cheese, nutrition, and regulations and sanitation.
Chelsea is one of 5 people in the State of Oregon to pass the exam and is the 2nd team member at Rogue Creamery to do so. “I am incredibly gratified and honored to be part of the 2014 class of CCP’s. Exciting cheese education opportunities have opened up due to this certification, I look forward to sharing my experience and newfound knowledge with fellow Rogue Creamery team members and others in the community.” Faris manages the Wholesale department in Central Point where she works with distributors, small wholesale accounts and retail customers both nationally and internationally. ACS CCPs are required to demonstrate continued active participation and professional development within the industry to maintain their credentials, and they must recertify every three years.
