Dole Launches Line Of Super Greens In Clamshells

MONTEREY, Calif.  — For salad consumers, health and fitness enthusiasts or consumers simply looking for an all-natural, nutrient-dense energy boost, relief is now a resealable clamshell away.

Continuing its trend of capitalizing on the latest wellness trends and consumer preferences, Dole Fresh Vegetables of Monterey, Calif., is launching a line of super-greens blends that combine maximum flavor and nutrient density with everyday clamshell convenience and versatility.

The new DOLE® Power Up Greens™ arrives in stores nationwide starting today as a new line of packaged greens delivering powerfully nutritious and delicious fresh blends that can easily be tossed into a wide variety of recipes, including salads, smoothies, stir-fry dishes and more.

The three initial SKUs in 4.5-oz. clamshells with resealable lids will retail for $2.49 to $3.29. DOLE® Power Up product extensions are expected as demand dictates.

Dole’s three new Power Up Greens™ include:

  • DOLE® Power Up Baby Kale: 100% DOLE Baby Kale.
  • DOLE® Power Up Baby Kale & Greens: A blend of DOLE Baby Kale, Baby Spinach, Baby Green Chard and Baby Red Chard.
  • DOLE® Power Up Spring Mix & Greens: A blend of DOLE Spring Mix, Baby Green Chard and Baby Green Kale.

“Dole’s new Power Up line has been created for the health-focused consumer wanting an all-natural, nutrient-dense replacement for energy drinks and power bars,” said Chris Mayhew, vice president of marketing for Dole Fresh Vegetables. “These consumers are looking for a maximum taste and nutrition payoff. The Power Up line will target fitness enthusiasts and those new to the super greens segment who may be unfamiliar with the powerful taste, nutrition and psychological benefits.”

“Power Up provides workout fans with an easy super greens solution for achieving their diet and health goals. But as much as Power Up packs an important nutrition and antioxidant punch, it is the bold flavors that resonate most with salad lovers,” said Mayhew. “With some imagination and selections from the Dole recipe library, this powerful taste/nutrition combination can be harnessed throughout the day – from veggie smoothies in the morning to nutrient-rich sandwiches at lunch to a dark leafy entrée salad or stir fry at dinner.”

Dole will support Power Up Greens™ with coupons; web, social media and shopper marketing programs; exclusive Salad Circle content; and dedicated new Power Up recipes and serving suggestions. An exhaustive PR and sampling program will elicit product trial and reviews from food media, culinary and fitness bloggers, registered dieticians (RDs), supermarket registered dieticians (SRDs), chefs and other salad ambassadors.

As one of the world’s largest providers of packaged salads, Dole has a long history of anticipating the latest trends to offer consumers innovative new products combining quality, variety, convenience and taste. With the two new DOLE® Power Up Greens™, salad lovers can now choose from 59 separate DOLE® Salad options, including chopped salads, award-winning kits and blends, slaws, clamshells and convenience-oriented value sizes.
