We are pleased to announce the purchase and sale of The Flower Group, Inc. located in Calgary to Florists Supply Ltd. effective February 28, 2014. The purchase brings together two companies that believe in delivering superior service and a wide selection of quality fresh flowers at competitive prices. The transaction will combine the strengths of the Flower Group, who celebrated its 20th year in the floral industry in 2013, and Florists Supply entering its 79th year in business.
Founders Jay and John Watson of The Flower Group, Inc. will continue with Florists Supply until May 31, 2014 to help manage the transition and then look forward to a quick Sabbatical and pursuing other interests in the community. The business will operate under the name Florists Supply starting March 1. The business will remain in its current location at Bay 5 – 6320 11th Street SE, all current employees will remain in place, and they can be reached at their existing telephone and email accounts.
Florists Supply Ltd. is a full service wholesale florist offering a broad selection of fresh flowers, floral supplies, glassware, pottery, metal and fibreglass containers, permanent botanicals, giftware, display and décor items, ribbons and a complete Christmas line. Florists Supply Ltd. is privately owned and has full service locations in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Florists Supply will be reviewing the existing offering of floral supplies by The Flower Group, Inc. and will be adding to that offering in Calgary over time and as space permits. Florists Supply is also planning to offer a weekly transfer to Calgary of any supply orders that need to be filled by our Edmonton Branch. Those orders transferred may be picked up at the Calgary location at no charge or delivered within Calgary for our regular delivery service fee. The details of the weekly transfer are being worked out and will be communicated to our customers in the next few weeks.
Between now and March 1st Florists Supply will be merging Customer Account Numbers, Pricing Programs, Inventory Numbers, Email, etc. You will be notified of any changes affecting your specific account in a separate letter prior to March 1st.
