For Klement's new CEO, the loss of the Milwaukee Brewers Famous Racing Sausages sponsorship, which was the company's single largest marketing expense, presents an opportunity.

When new Klement Sausage Co. Inc. CEO Tom Danneker sat down with Milwaukee Brewers’ representatives in January for the first time, he thought the meeting would end with a new contract between the two organizations to allow Klement’s to continue to sponsor the World Famous Racing Sausages.

But as the meeting began, Danneker noticed something odd — the Brewers’ representatives didn’t have any papers with them. His fears were confirmed minutes later, when he expressed his excitement to continue working for the Brewers, as they had for more than two decades, and Brewers chief operating officer Rick Schlesinger cut him off, telling him they’d come to say that the Brewers had signed a deal with a new sausage sponsor.
